Looking for something different? How about a ride in the country where you can find a scenic roads, cultural performance center, spectacular 'mcMansions' and hill or two. This is it.

Unlike our regular rides that has a single direction and a turnaround point, this one will be a 35 mile loop that starts/ends at the Dunn Loring metro station(orange line). The route includes long stretches on the WOD Trail, open suburban/country roads and the Reston Parkway trail before we return to to the WOD Trail.

The ride is considered challenging because of the hilly terrain and the open road that we'll be traveling on however don't let this discourage you from participating. The local scenery is very much worth it.

Total Distance: 35 miles
Pace: Med(12 - 15 mph)
Terrain: rolling to hilly, including Clark's Crossing Road and the brutal 12% grade of Beach Mill Road.

Starting/Ending Point: Dunn Loring metro station(orange line)

Highlights: furry creatures, mansions and more.

- HELMETS ARE REQUIRED!
- All rides are 'No Drop', for nobody will be left behind.
- ID, spare tube, bike lock/cable are recommended .
- Snacks and liquids can be purchased.
- The event will be canceled/postponed if it rains.
- Email me if you have any questions

The Great Falls Ride is now closed to any new RSVP's and the group size has been increased to include the wait list folks. Please make sure that you're aware of what awaits you. The rolling to hilly terrain that we'll be riding could be best described as pure evil if you're not prepared for it.

Seeking Ride Leaders - I am looking for 1-2 members to assist me on the Great Falls Ride. Duties would involve leading small groups of 3-5 riders along the route and having fun. I scheduled an impromptu ride this upcoming Saturday May 16th at 9:00 to help familiarize potential leaders and anybody who's just interested in a ride. Please check out the message board for further details.

    •  A good uphill climb to find out what kind of biker you are....I'm the kind of rider that gets lost easily... :-)
    •  Wonderful route, great people.
    •  Fun, hilly ride, with great people to ride with. Let's do it again!
    •  I personally was not fully ready for the rolling hills of Great Falls, but otherwise it was a great ride and I'm sure I'll enjoy it again when I'm in better shape.
    •  Greg puts together a fun, well-organized ride.
    •  I would like to thank everyone for participating in the Great Falls Ride. It was definitely great to meet some for the first time and to see familiar faces. I especially want to thank the ride leaders: Tish, David and Michael for helping me out yesterday, it's greatly appreciated. Until the next time!
