Meet at Shady Grove metro for a 50 miler at moderate pace (equivalent to Potomac Pedallers C/CC) to Baldwin's pub by the railroad at Sykesville, MD. Bring $12-$15 for brunch/lunch. Sign-ups are limited to 15 riders, as a larger group will be way too unwieldy at Baldwin's. Let's take the 'Roads to Salvation': Zion, Howard Chapel, Jennings Chapel. then up to Woodbine and over to Sykesville for a lunch stop at Baldwin's Station, which we discovered on last October's ride. From Shady Grove Metro this gives 26 miles to Baldwin's, with a return of 25 for a 51 miles round trip. Course is undulating. Last time the average pace was 15mph with 17-18mph on the flat. Should be easily within the range of rider's who are roaring fit from a season of Sportives and challenging rides. Road bike riders with cleats will be happiest on this trip. Route in two maps here (coz Google Maps thinks the bridge on Howard Chapel is out. It isn't). http://maps.google.c om/maps?f=d&sour ce=s_d&saddr=Red land+Rd+%26+Crabbs+B ranch+Way,+MD+20855& daddr=Muncaster+Rd+t o:MD-108%2FOlney+Lay tonsville+Rd+to:Broo keville+Rd+to:MD-582 %2FZion+Rd+to:MD-420 %2FSundown+Rd+to:How ard+Chapel+Rd&hl =en&geocode=%3BF U3lVQIdzVtn-w%3BFZDi VQId8GNn-w%3BFQPqVQI d0Ihn-w%3BFcV5VgId1M Nn-w%3BFbKBVgIdwuRn- w%3BFQjmVgIdexBo-w& mra=mr&sll=39.24 9204,-77.060981& sspn=0.008192,0.0193 12&ie=UTF8&l l=39.249437,-77.0632 77&spn=0.008192, 0.019312&z=16& layer=c&pw=2 http://maps.google.c om/maps?f=d&sour ce=s_d&saddr=How ard+Chapel+Rd&da ddr=Howard+Chapel+Rd +to:Jennings+Chapel+ Rd+to:Daisy+Rd+to:Bu shy+Park+Rd+to:Hoods +Mill+Rd%2FHoods+Ml% 2FMD-97%2FOld+Washin gton+Rd%2FRoxbury+Mi ll+Rd+to:Hoods+Mill+ Rd%2FMD-97%2FMD+Rout e+97+to:Forsythe+Rd+ to:W+Friendship+Rd%2 FMD-851+to:39.364895 ,-76.969185&hl=e n&geocode=FUznVg IdShFo-w%3BFXbxVgIdu SZo-w%3BFfUwVwId2Phn -w%3BFSziVwIdeiJo-w% 3BFdsIWAId7KNo-w%3BF Uf7VwIdO8Zo-w%3BFeA2 WAIdx9xo-w%3BFQc7WAI dAvVo-w%3BFY6bWAIdCI 1p-w%3B&mra=dme& mrcr=8&mrsp=9& sz=15&sll=39.363 8,-76.967425&ssp n=0.016357,0.038624& ie=UTF8&z=15& pw=2 Bring cash for the lunch because we don't want the embarrassment, hassle and delay of having to juggle multiple credit cards for a single bill. Note I'm limiting this to 15 riders because too many people at the restaurant is just too much of a bear, and hideously slow. So if you know you are NOT coming, please do others a favour and de-list yourself in plenty of time before the event. Mild precipitation will not stop this ride. Stephen_N.

Come join us for a special ride through Maryland's Prince Georges and Anne Arundel's Counties to a rendezvous with the great Chesapeake Bay. This 50 mile trip will go through many historic sites such as churches, farmlands and forests. To quote a Boyz to Men song: "Not too hard, not too soft". The terrain is gently rolling with some hills that have just enough sting to remind you that it is not flat out there. The variety in scenery is simply spectacular. Starting with industrial parkland to sprawling suburbia to farmlands, forests, and waterfronts. Finally, the Davidsonville veterans will really appreciate the latter half of the ride because the route covers some very familiar territory. http://www.gmap-pedo meter.com/?r=2917173 Starting/Ending Point: New Carrollton metro station(orange line) Total Distance: 50 miles, 25 miles single direction Terrain: Rolling to mildly hilly, see ride profile for details Highlights: the best of suburbia, farmlands, forests, gorgeous riverfront and many furry creatures - HELMETS ARE REQUIRED! - All rides are 'No Drop', for nobody will be left behind. - ID, spare tube, bike lock/cable are recommended . - Snacks and liquids can be purchased. - The event will be canceled/postponed if it rains. - Email me if you have any questions
