This will be my third year doing this event - I think it is well organized by them. Last year, it was very crowded at the start! I plan to be at the Steaming Kettle near Starbucks for the start. No fee for my group for this one! There are three ride lengths....I'll likey do the 30 something ride this year.

Make it a day or overnight trip to Nantucket! We did this same trip two years ago and it was a blast! We'll be staying at the Youth Hostel which is beautifully situated right on the ocean! I have an overnight reservation currently for 5 men and 5 women so RSVP on this site and then you must call the hostel and ask for the "Fox" reservation, first come first serve! I've reserved 10 spots under my credit card but when you reserve, you must reserve under your credit card and they will deduct from my credit card your confirmation. We'll likely bike about 20 miles per day, eat, have ice cream, bike some more, eat again :-), and swim at the beach etc... stuff like that :-) We could rent a group taxi into town for night life.....whatever the group feels like doing. The Youth Hostel is $35 per night. Parking is at 49 Yarmouth Rd and is $15 per day. There is a shuttle from the parking lot to the dock at 141 School St. We'll take the Steamship Authority from Hyannis on the 9:15 am departure. Cost for the ferry is $33 round trip plus $12 for bikes. There is also a $5 fee that goes toward maintaining this group's website. More details to follow!! See ya soon! Rob Fox, Organizer Please indicate in your RSVP if you'll be doing the day or overnight option. Thank you

If you are like me, you've been ITCHING to take your bike out, almost to the point where it could be considered a medical condition... Here's your shot! I will be leading a bike ride making a loop to Walden Pond from the Harvard Square area. THE ROUTE: We will start near Harvard Square at the park next to the JFK bridge (Harvard Square side). From there, we will take the Charles River bike path out of Cambridge until Watertown, and I'm still deciding on the best route to Walden pond from there, but it will take us past the Cambridge Reservoir. At Walden Pond, we will take our shoes off and relax for a bit, hopefully catching some sun! After we've chilled for a while, we will head northeast toward Lexington until we connect with the Minuteman Bikeway and head back. Our destination from there will be Davis Square where we can catch a bite to eat to end the day. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY GREAT RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE ROUTE! I will try to post a map closer to the date, and I will update the text with the final plan. THE PACE: Ideally, I'd shoot for a 15 mph pace, but I think we'll going 10-12 mph on the paths since it will be packed, though I plan to hit at least 15, higher if we can handle it, once we get out in the open. In all honesty, I have no idea how long it will take. I would plan at least 4 hours - we will hang out at Walden Pond based on consensus. WHAT TO BRING: Feel free to ride whatever kind of bike you want as long as you can keep up. I'll be riding a fixed gear bike. Bring any water and food as needed. Flat repair tools are always smart. A helmet is recommended! Also, there is a recommended $5 donation that goes to Rob to cover past and future meetup.com fees. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns or questions! I hope to see a big group! NASTY WEATHER WILL CANCEL THIS EVENT Joys, Matt

Saturday they're calling for 80 Degree Weather!! This ride will begin at the beginning of River Rd in Watertown very close to the center of Watertown. The roads that meet River Rd. are Galen and N. Beacon (there is plenty of street parking along River Rd) See attached link and find where the #1 pointer is located..... http://www.mapquest. com/maps?city=Watert own&state=MA& address=Charles+Rive r+Rd Pace will be 10-12 miles per hour but this pace will likely be affected due to the heavy traffic on the paths due to the nice weather. I guesstimate that this ride is no more than 12-15 miles, if that. I think with the slower pace due to traffic it will take us about 2 1/2 hours. Bring a frisbee in case we stop for a short bit on the charles to catch some rays. Helmets always highly recommended. A good bell is good for the paths to warn walkers. My cell on the day of the ride is 617-894-8454 Warm Regards, Rob Fox Organizer

I got this route from the CRW website and it looks to be a good ride. We have 2 distances, one is 45 miles, and an alternate that is 27 miles. I am hoping to keep a pace of 15+ MPH for the short route, and a bit faster for the long route. You should bring water, helmet, bike in good working order, and (since I have never done this route) please bring your sense of adventure! If you want, we could get a bit to eat for lunch after the ride. I think there is a Friendly's nearby... ice cream would be nice! Ride leaves at 9:35! 45 mile route 27 mile route Map of Meetup Spot View of Meetup spot I am going to need the assistance of someone to be the leader of the short ride. So if you are interested, please shoot me an email. One more detail, If people could bring a buck or two to donate to the group that would be great. Rob would greatly appreciate it, because he pays the fee for the group out of his own pocket. Thanks! & Thanks Rob! See you there!

Spring! Its supposed to be clear & sunny, and in the 40's on Saturday, so lets make the most of it! I recommend wearing light layers that you can peel off as your body heats up. The ride will begin at 11:15am, and we will return to Concord Center for a bite to eat afterward. I hope that we can maintain a decent pace in the neighborhood of 15MPH, maybe a bit faster, but we'll play it by ear. The ride is approx 20 miles, I have done this route 3 or 4 times and I love the rolling hills, back roads, and farm scenery. Last time I rode this, (last summer) there was a bridge out at the beginning of the ride... Hopefully the construction is done, but if not, there is a short distance to carry your bike. Speaking of bikes, you are welcome to ride any kind of bike you want so long as you can keep up with the group. I will be riding a road bike. Also, if you find that you don't think you can do the whole 20, there is a shortcut that cuts 5 miles out of the route. I can show it to you on the map when we Meet-Up. This is a great "First Ride of the Year" type of ride if you haven't been biking over the winter months.
